2020 year in review
In a single year, the entire planet came to a near standstill in activities, brought about by a worldwide pandemic that aggrieved an already tense global economic recession.
As this crisis was further intensified by escalating racial tensions and political instability, many civic leaders rose to action, creating new platforms and pathways to uplift communities.
With the concerted efforts of #SHE_BUILDS leadership members from across the globe, we too participated in elevating our community through various virtual experiences, including:
Our Krik Krak Bonfire Party, where we brought together artists, musicians, storytellers and poets whose impressive talents not only enchanted us, but soothed our souls as we grappled with the realities of living during a pandemic.
Our monthly Digital Townhalls, where we raised awareness on topics such as "Haiti's Economy, Past, Present, Future", "Manufacturing in Haiti during COVID19", and "The Global Black Ecosystem".
In support of our Haitian women innovators who are building solutions for a better future for all, we also launched our Moonshot Academy Accelerator program, investing in 10 of Haiti's most promising women entrepreneurs, providing them with access to resources, tools, coaching and capital.
Our year of activities culminated in our annual Future Festival, held entirely online for the first time, bringing together speakers from across Haiti, the U.S, Brazil, Cuba, and Nigeria on the theme "RE:THINKING The Future of People & Planet". 2021 & Beyond
As we springboard into 2021, we are encouraged by the continued evolution of Haiti's entrepreneurial ecosystem, where despite ongoing challenges, young builders both women and men, continue to persevere in the realization of their vision for a more progressive nation, in Haiti and across the Diaspora.
We as #SHE_BUILDS continue to uphold our commitment to invest in the growth of the ecosystem, and position women as leaders of the New Economy. As such, we are elated to share with you our plans for 2021!
